The “Ashta Samruddhi Phalak” is affixed above the Main Door / Shutter of any premise regardless of whether it is residential or commercial, owned or rental from the outside as its main feature is to usher in luck and good fortune in bountiful quantities.
These eight symbols have been recognized by various civilizations for centuries as auspicious symbols considering there phenomenally positive attributes. These eight symbols include :
1. SWASTIK. The Swastika is one of the oldest known auspicious symbols representing luck, glory, prosperity, progress and success. Swastika literally means, Su = good and Asti = present making abode.
2. SRIVATSA. Is one of the oldest known representation of Mata MahaLaxmi. Hence, the prelude of the name includes the word “Sri”. The word “Sri” signifies, “the sign of beauty”, “the token of good fortune”, “the mark of royalty and power”, it is also synonyms with luck, prosperity, grace, happiness and royal domain. Mata / Goddess was prayed to as the goddess of agricultural prosperity and bountiful green vegetation in folk lore. Hence, icnographically she is represented as the eight petaled goddess.
3. NADYAVARTA. Is a large Swastika with nine corners and indicates the presence of treasures of nine kinds like material, physical, spiritual, political, social, mental, etc. to name a few. When the Nadyavarta is placed on the Main Door all these nine treasures are persuaded to come and make the premise their eternal abode.
4. VARDHAMANAK. The word “Vardhaman” literally means to enhance, hence, Vardhaman is the process of increasing wealth, health as well as spirituality. When such progress is the ultimate aim invariably it makes the abode a positive and thriving premise.
5. KALASH. The Kalash denotes immense prosperity, health and longevity. It contains the elixir of life, making living a blissful experience. The two eyes bring our attention to factual knowledge and legitimate faith. This validates and enhances our existence.
6. BHADRASAN. This symbol is also identified as the “Simhasan”. The Bhadrasan represents stability, power and consistency in thought followed by righteousness is decision making. Any person sitting upon a throne is highly respected and revered. He brings forth equilibrium between what is “Correct” and what is “Right”. It empowers the premise with correct and appropriate hierarchy such that the family is thereby headed by a fair impartial and noble individual.
7. MATSYA. Meenyugal ( Fish ), has varied connotations. These two fish represent the two mighty rivers of India, which are the Holy Ganga and Yamuna. Another representation being one of the fishes representing the solar channel while the other the lunar channel. The third representation being creating a similarity between these two fish and our two nostrils. Fish also symbolize Lord Vishnu in one of his incarnations. All these analogies point to the fact of being rescued from the ocean of miseries, sufferings and gaining the ability to migrate far and wide like the fish in water in the eternal hope of happiness.
8. DARPAN. ( Mirror ). This image symbolizes one’s true self. It is the unadulterated image of one’s soul and helps one to stay grounded and be strong enough to see the truth, accept it and walk ahead to improvise upon it. This mirror is not what we show the world, but a peek into our inner self. It provides us with a much needed inner connect.
All one needs to do in benefitting from this Maha Yantram, namely, the “Ashta Samruddha Phalak” is to have unflinching faith in it.
