Shiva Om Dear Friends,
It is true that on account of body heat and sweat every Mukhi and Origin Rudraksha tends to darken with the passage of time. The time it takes to darken will vary from person to person and the climatic condition he or she lives in.
Some are of the opinion that if the Rudraksha gets dark then it is not considered auspicious and I would like to clarify that this is a completely misplaced notion and as long as the Rudraksha is not cracked, chipped or broken, it is perfectly fine to wear dark coloured Rudraksha.
My very own “Deva Mani” Rudraksha which was fair colored went black after around 6 months of continually wearing it.
In some cases or rather in most of the cases those who adorn the Holy Rudraksha are not trained in the process of cleaning, cleansing and energisation of the Holy Rudraksha. Both aforementioned factors are of prime importance in all to keep the Rudraksha in pristine condition. Hence, as and when you buy the Rudraksha one must know how to upkeep the Rudraksha both Physically and Spiritually. Not up keeping the Rudraksha in the manner required also leads to the darkening of the Rudraksha which can be avoided. I have come across scores of my clients who have been wearing Rudraksha’s but on account of lack of knowledge in the field of maintenance and upkeep of a Rudraksha, the Rudraksha slowly looses its inherent energy and becomes lifeless.
So friends do ask your suppliers for the maintenance kit of Rudrakshas along with all other details I have mentioned earlier. You may not get this kind of information from mere traders, hence you will have to approach a learned person in the science of “Rudra Shruti” ( it is the science of the study of Rudraksha’s.)
I earnestly hope that this humble Blog has been able to resolve your query.
Shivam Kalyanam,
