My house is facing the South direction. Can I build an underground water tank in the Southwest direction?

Shiva Om Dear Friends,

Having a South facing house is not an issue or in any way inauspicious as per Vastu Shastra. However, having an underground water tank in the Southwest direction is completely undesirable. The Southwest is ruled by the “Pruthvi Tatva” and the “Jadatva Tatva” which means that the Southwest direction is ideally supposed to be the highest and the heaviest. However, while making this direction heavy and high the “Jaal Tatva” ( Water Element ) should not be used.

You could either choose the Northeast, center North, East or the West for construction of an underground water tank. These water reservoirs regardless of whether they are below the ground, on the ground or placed over the construction have to be constructed as per certain prescribed norms. There are also some deposits that area supposed to be placed within them which are also vital for the occupants of the Vastu.

Avoid the entire South zone for having an underground or over head water tank. In other words you should not have a water tank in the Southeast or the South or the Southwest direction. This is a fundamental rule and has been spelled out unanimously by all the classical authoritative texts on Vastu Shastra.

I earnestly hope that this humble Blog has put to rest any query you may have in this regard.
