The Ring finger represents the Almighty Sun, who happens to be the father of Lord Shani. Neelam represents or is the Gemstone of Lord Shani ( Saturn ). It is the middle finger of the right hand which is the designated finger for the Neelam as this is the finger for Lord Shani.

Both interestingly and ironically both Lord Sun and Shani do not see eye to eye. They share a bitter relationship as per the canons of well established Hindu Astrology. Hence, wearing of a Neelam which symbolises Lord Shani in the finger designated to Lord Sun is certainly not suggested and though in my course of being a professional Astrologer I have seen this kind of an advice given by some Astrologers I personally of the opinion that this will only lead to a disaster and hence must be avoided.

Hence, to sum it up if you are to wear a Neelam then wear it after having followed the due procedure in the Middle finger of the Right hand. Also do bear in mind the fact that the Neelam is a powerful Gemstone which can cause both immense good and bad. Hence, be doubly sure prior to wearing of this Gemstone.

Both an extension and cut in any of the eight directions on the two dimensional plane are connected very much to the well established tenets of both Vedic as well as Modern Vastu Shastra.

As mentioned in the question the plots we are here talking about apparently have a Southwest extension. The Southwest is a direction governed by the Mukhiya Yajman ( Main Owner ) of the Vastu and hence any extension in this direction will have a negative ramification on one of the vital areas of the owner’s life. It could be physical, financial, mental, social, political, etc.

It is ideally to be rectified as it is regarded to be a fairly major Vastu Dosha. In my personal practice as a professional Vastu Shastra consultant for over 35 years I have come across both open plots and built structures having a Southwest extension and I have personally witnessed the negative impacts on the lives of the owners and thereby the other occupants of such Vastu’s.

Hence, my dear friends I would earnestly advice you to take the professional guidance of a well experienced and knowledgeable Vastu Shastra professional and have this problem or anomaly sorted out at the earliest.

The only good thing of these products that one can learn from is how fertile a mind can get in terms of creativity and in some cases their unique marketing skills. Some of them actually land up making a good amount of money as there is no dirt of gullible believers.

In my experience I have seen that people want instant results, which may always not be forthcoming. The results depend on slew of factors of which some are even beyond the control of the learned Astrologer or Vastu Shastra consultant. One needs to be realistic and reasonable in his or her expectations from the remedies suggested.

Unlike many of my colleagues who would insist on having a Bore Well dug “only in the Northeast corner of the plot” under the consideration, I personally function otherwise.

One needs to be pragmatic along with adhering to well established Vastu Shastra norms. Though the Northeast corner is the most popular position for the placement of the Boring or the Underground Water Tank, the ancient scriptures have mentioned of other equally appropriate directions where one can place a Bore Well. Like for instance you can have the same in the center North, East and the West directions too.

However, it is equally important to take into consideration the fact that you are not supposed to have a Bore Well made on the Rajju, Konasutra, Karnaresha, Shira, Vamsa, Nadi and other such sensitive points in the plot even if you place the Bore Well in the directions mentioned earlier. You will need to be careful in order to balance both the placement of the Bore Well along with ensuring that you do not violate any of these highly sensitive Marma points.

Further, the Boring has to be made on a particular Muhurat. For instance Sundays, Tuesday, etc are regarded inappropriate to commence making a Bore Well. The scriptures have also talked about certain deposits that need to be made in the Bore Well. None of these are complex or difficult for the common man to adhere to. All he needs is perfect guidance from a competent Vastu Shastra consultant.

I then prefer the client to check for the availability of water in the various parts of his plot by either using any Scientific Equipment or then any Traditional Method. In most of the cases he is able to strike water in one of the four Vastu Shastra acceptable positions.

This strategy ensures that the client is able to both follow Vastu Shastra norms and at the same time actually get some water from the Bore Well.

The Neelam / Blue Sapphire is the Gemstone assigned to Lord Shani and hence it is strongly advised that in the first place prior to wearing the same you should be doubly careful and preferably try it out for a small period of time as a trial prior to wearing it on a permanent basis. Astrologically it is also believed that a wrong decision of either wearing it or removing it can have serious repercussions.

The special circumstances under which you are permitted to remove a Neelam Gemstone are elaborated ahead :

1. You wish to upgrade the Neelam to a better quality one.

or

2. If you have realised for sure that you have been advised wrongly to wear the Neelam.

or

3. If the Neelam has chipped / cracked / broken or damaged in any manner.

or

4. If you have lost faith in the Gemstone and strongly feel that it is not working well for you.

or

5. The period for which the Neelam has been prescribed to be worn is complete and now wearing of the Neelam has no relevance or can be harmful and act against you.

However, I would like to suggest that you should ensure that while removing of the Neelam do so with great respect and make clear the “Intent” with which you are doing so with humility. The dignity of the Gemstone should not be in any way hampered. In case it is damaged then you will need to immerse it in clean flowing water after offering a prayer of forgiveness ( Kshama Yachana ).

In the course of my professional practice which spans more than 3.5 decades in the field of Vastu Shastra, it is my personal opinion that one must never rule any provision out. Though as of date you may find the lift/ elevator to be of little or no use. In the course of time there could be problems to do with one’s health and climbing up a couple floors could then provide to be a challenge.

Hence, my suggestion to my clients is always at least to allocate the space for a lift though they may not install it right away. Given the sedentary lifestyles of today which is sans any physical exercise believe me that sooner than later most will need to resort to the lift.

You have indeed asked a very interesting and relevant question from both Vastu Shastra as well as the generic Hindu Shastra point of view.

First of all as a Vastu Shastra consultant I would be answering this question from that perspective. Many are of the opinion that one should place the Horse Shoe either atop the frame of the Main Door or then on the threshold in order to ensure that no negative energy or malefic effects of Saturn ( Lord Shani ) negatively impact the occupants of the Vastu. However, this common trend has no basis or relevance at all. In all my reading and experience I have rummaged through various authoritative classical texts for a reference to this notion. But alas all my effort was in vain as there was no text which vouched for its placement on the Main Door.

On the contrary it is regarded as attempting to further invite Lord Saturn into the premise it is placed in. It also attracts Alakshmi ( loss of Wealth and Riches ) and hence in my personal opinion I would dissuade you from placing the Horse Shoe on your Main Door or just any door of either a commercial or residential premise.

The placement of the Horse Shoe is a Western concept and hence one does not find any reference in the ancient Indian scriptures.

As per the well established tenets of both Vedic as well as Modern Vastu Shastra there are only two accepted shapes for both an open plot and the built structure. They are the Square and the Rectangle.

The Triangular shape is to be shunned by one and all. All the major classical scriptures on the subject of Vastu Shastra have been unanimous in their opinion in this regard. Triangular shaped plots and built structures including a single room is also not acceptable from the Vastu Shastra point of view.

In case you are stuck with a Triangular shaped plot then you will need to rectify it and carve out a Square or a Rectangle out of it. You will need to make a compound wall in the shape of a square of rectangle ensuring that all the four corners are at ninety degrees. The corner triangular areas which are left out can then be used for peripheral aspects like keeping the generator, septic tank, garden and such other not so important aspects. Approaches to them will need to be very carefully made.

However, though I myself have planned homes and commercial spaces by adhering to all Vastu Shastra norms after due rectification of the Triangular plots in some cases depending on the kind of Triangle there is a great deal of wastage of space. Vastu Shastra based planning is easier in large Triangular plots than in smaller one’s. In my opinion it is not advisable on account of the loss of space if you have not purchased the plot then avoid it altogether.

You also need a very seasoned and experienced Vastu Shastra consultant to take care of the Triangular plots. Novices will in all likeliness give you some shoddy advice of rectification of the shape of the plot which in my opinion does not have any classical base and they are ineffective. The Dosha of the Triangular plot still carries on.

There are two aspects two your question. Firstly, I would always suggest that one should not keep a single peacock at home and rather keep a pair or a group of them. The Peacock’s are regarded auspicious in many ways. They are also known to attract prosperity and wealth. The peacock is also featured as a vehicle ( Vahan ) of one of the important Hindu Gods who is a warrior himself. So they also offer protection to the person who keeps them.

However, as per Indian Wild Life Act one is not allowed to keep Peacock’s as pet as far as my knowledge goes. It is a serious offence and hence my friend if you reside in India do not take this step and it is best that you reap the same benefits from the appropriate use of their feathers which are openly available in the market.

I would not agree with a blanket statement like that.

The instances when the Rudraksha Mala cannot work in the interest of the person are listed ahead to enhance better understanding :

1.  This situation may arise if a person has thrown it down on the ground with disrespect/ anger / frustration / disbelief, etc.

2. In cases where the Rudraksha beads are cracked, chipped or broken when they have fallen then certainly the issue may arise that they will not be able to perform well.

3. If they have fallen in something that is unholy then again a situation could arise where the ability of the Rudraksha beads becomes questionable.

However, if it has harmlessly fallen down without any malefic intention then in such a case in my opinion no such conclusion is to be drawn.

One can simply ask for “Kshama Yachana” ( A prayer for forgiveness ) and re wear the Mala or then use it for Meditation purpose, as the case may be.
