If somebody stops wearing his Rudraksha Mala on account of skin disease for 2 months, can he be able to wear such Mala? Is any purification procedure needed?

Shiva Om Dear Friends,

Out of the scores of questions that I have answered on the subject of Rudraksha, I think that this is one of the most interesting one’s.

A person having suffered skin disease has for very realistic and genuine reasons removed the Rudraksha Mala. As long as he has done so only out of this medical condition and not on account of any disdain or disbelief in the Mala he is free to re wear the Mala after having performed a “Rudra Abhishek” of the Mala. I suggest performing the “Rudra Abhishek” as it will re energise the Mala and also re establish its connection with the wearer.

During such occasions one needs to simply ensure that the Rudraksha Mala is stored in a clean and neat place. I prefer the Pooja place at home to be the most ideal. Further, in the course of this period the person concerned can offer prayers to the Mala by chanting its Beej ( Seed ) Mantra. This helps in both maintain the spiritual connect with the Mala and also ensuring that the energy levels of the Mala at its prime.

It is imperative to bear in mind that in this interim period nobody else should use the Mala.

I earnestly hope that this Blog has answered this rather tricky question to my reader’s satisfaction.
