What are the most famous 5 Vastu Myths that are most popular ?

Shiva Om Dear Friends,

This is indeed a very interesting question and I would like to clarify at the very outset that though I have never subscribed to the five myths I am discussing ahead, they are extremely popular and hence I would like to bring them forth gladly as they are playing havoc in the minds of the common gullible believer. Especially, as they do not have any classical base and are merely based on hearsay. Furthermore, they do not have any Scientific or Climatic or Geographical or for that matter any other rationale.

A. You should not have “Three Doors In A Row”. This is probably the most commonly accepted Myth. In fact many a Vastu Shastra consultant also seriously adhere to this pseudo rule. They make the folly of asking clients to close down doors or shift them so that they do not fall in a line. This is pure harassment of the client who knows nothing about this subject and purely believes in what is told to him. The shifting of doors and making of walls in their places unnecessary takes a toll on the client both in terms of Money and Peace of Mind. Finally, after undergoing this gruesome exercise one is left with no positive results as the entire theory is itself flawed.

B. “Vyaghara Mukhi” plots or built structure are bad or inauspicious while “Gaumukhi” plots or built structures are good and auspicious. This is totally rubbish. In both the cases there is a cut in a certain direction or directions and extension is a certain direction or directions. So speaking from the true Vastu Shastra perspective both of them are equally bad. I have rummaged all the ancient scriptures of Vastu Shastra for any remote reference of this apparent tenet and have only come out with absolutely no mention about this in any authoritative believable text. Hence, dear friends regardless of whether your plot or built up structure is “Vyaghara Mukhi” or “Gau Mukhi” you will need to carry out some serious corrections and do not be under the false hope that a “Gau Mukhi” plot or structure is going to bestow any miraculous results upon you.

C. Vastu Shastra rules or governs the position of “Wall Clocks” in a Vastu. No ancient text that I have read ranging from Maymatam, Mansara, Rajvallabh, Vishwakarma Prakash, Kamika Agam, etc have ever mentioned anything in regards to the position of the Wall Clock. This rule has been picked up from Feng Shui and pasted in the name of Vastu Shastra. In the course of my giving professional advice to my esteemed clients I clearly state that one should simply place a clock in the direction which is convenient to the person rather than considering any appropriate or inappropriate directions for the same.

D. One cannot have a Staircase in the North, Northeast and the East directions. Especially the Northeast direction. This is another unfounded rule which stems out of some misconception of the basic understanding of the science of Vastu Shastra. Vastu Shastra consultants many a time have never ever read the ancient scriptures themselves and hence they simply pass on norms which they have heard from other half baked Vastu Shastra consultants. These kind of rules are a resultant of these loose talks.

I personally disagree with the school of thought that says that one cannot have a staircase in the North, Northeast or the East directions. I would like to back up my statement with some classical facts which are stated ahead. “Mansara”, Vol.4, Chapter 36 and Shlokha 72 has clearly stated that one can have a Stair case in all the four Main directions, that is, in the North, South, East and the West. It has further stated that a Staircase can also be placed in all the subsidiary directions like the Northeast, Southeast, Southwest and the Northwest directions. For further details on the topic of Staircases kindly read my answer on Staircases in Quora or get in touch with me personally.

E. Choosing a bungalow, flat, plot, etc on the basis of its “Number” and calling it a Vastu Shastra norm. The number of any property does not have anything to do whatsoever with the Vastu Shastra requirements of the plot. This is a new invalid and bogus theory which is doing the rounds rather rapidly. I have come across many clients who refuse to even look at Vastu’s which are Vastu Shastra compatible but just because it has a “Negative Number” people bear this false notion that this is a negative Vastu and let go of some wonderful properties.

Needless, to say this latest unfounded theory has no backing or veracity as far as any of the ancient scriptures are concerned. In fact even Modern Vastu Shastra does not have any sympathy to this norm. It is a pure mockery of Vastu Shastra and it is these pseudo Vastu Shastra consultants who then bring Vastu Shastra a bad name.

I earnestly hope that this Blog has been an eye opener for my readers as I am pretty sure that most must have believed in at least one of the five mentioned above.
